BIO
Scott Willyerd has overseen the strategic direction of the RW Jones Agency for more than a decade. After acquiring the firm in 2011, he has played a crucial role in transforming the company into one of the nation’s leading strategic communications consultancies serving higher education. He is passionate about the transformational impacts that education can provide. He is proud to lead an organization that inspires, challenges and supports a sector that is so critical to our evolving world.
Service is an important part of his work to RW Jones and other organizations he helps lead. He holds several board positions: He is an elected school board member and serves on the Executive Committee for Allegheny Mountain Swimming, where he is Administrative Vice Chair.
Prior to joining RW Jones (formerly Dick Jones Communications), Scott produced television news for WHP-TV, the CBS affiliate in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and radio newscasts for Ohio stations WTVN-AM in Columbus and WSPD-AM in Toledo. He has produced an award-winning documentary entitled “Young Gloves” that chronicled the relationship between fathers and sons who participated in the Silver Gloves Boxing tournament.
Scott holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.
In his free time, Scott coaches youth baseball and basketball and can often be found on pool decks around Pittsburgh officiating youth swim meets.
