ABOUT
BIO
Adam Smeltz focuses on specialized writing needs, collaborating with RW Jones clients and his agency colleagues to strategize, draft and refine institutional communications, thought-leadership pieces and other high-priority materials. His work also centers on proactive media relations: He identifies key opportunities to introduce subject-matter experts to news reporters covering the day’s biggest stories.
Since making his earliest contributions to the agency in 2019, Adam has helped clients secure media placements ranging from the Chicago Tribune, Ms. and Newsweek to STAT and The Hill. His experience in internal and external communications has helped clients prepare for and navigate major institutional developments, including programmatic achievements and resource realignments.
A longtime journalist, Adam has worked as a reporter for daily news organizations from Pittsburgh to central Pennsylvania to southern New Jersey. Assignments took him from political nominating conventions, tornadoes and a hospital operating room to courtrooms, prisons and Pittsburgh’s city hall. He also covered higher education, reporting largely on his alma mater — The Pennsylvania State University — and for local and regional newspapers.
Adam completed his bachelor’s degree in journalism at Penn State with a minor in history.
He lives just outside Pittsburgh with his wife and an elderly 15-pound poodle. His hobbies include digging paths in the snow for the poodle, indulging at Italian restaurants and judging strangers’ parking skills.
